Calamity Brains:
Girls Gone Dead is basically two movies with plots that rarely intersect, and neither of them good. Plot 1 centers around the stereotypical college vacation weekend tropes, while Plot 2 involves no real story, just a few brief glimpses into the chaos of a Girls Gone Wild ripoff set. There’s some mild attempt to connect the two stories, but it always feels forced – an excuse to include more boobs and crudity moreso than anything else.
The college party weekend storyline is pretty light on the plot. Though there are a few attempts at red herrings, the killer is obvious right off the bat. Beyond a few WTF moments and cameos by Linnea Quigley and Ron Jeremy, there isn’t much to distinguish or recommend this movie from the sea of other slashers.
The Plot 1 storyline is done better in tons of places, and Plot 2 is better done in a few as well, most notably Piranha 3D. You won’t be missing out if you skip this one, even if you’re specifically looking for a boob-filled flick.
Calamity Brains’ Rating: C-
