Calamity Brains:
The Asylum is fairly hit or miss as a production company, but the pairing of Glenn Miller and Scotty Mullen tends to produce better-than-average movies. The heady mix that made The Coed and the Zombie Stoner is something like: generic college movie + zombies + drugs + boobs. It’s just as stupid as it sounds, and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
Blood and boobs are high up on the list of reasons why a lot of people like horror movies, and The Coed and the Zombie Stoner does not disappoint in those categories. Though much more comedy than horror, it’s heavy on gratuitous nudity and horror situations, including mad science, decapitation, and being eaten alive. This movie absolutely does not take itself seriously, and you shouldn’t try to either.
If you like poking fun at the genre and need something dumb with lots of ‘gina and gore, you won’t be disappointed. This pleasantly fun little flick is among our favorites for a drunken night of shenanigans.
Calamity Brains’ Rating: B+
