Calamity Brains:
While the tag line is definitely the best part of The Mutilator, this little slasher is surprisingly decent. It combines a fairly unique (and wtf) backstory with fun weapons and kills, which keeps things humming along. Though the acting is generally wooden, it rarely crosses into truly painful, and I never found myself bored with the movie.
Like many ’80s slashers, this one is mainly just violence for violence’s sake. If that’s your thing, though, it’s hard to argue with coeds (including Matt Mitler and Frances Raines) playing Sardines with a killer on the loose, or death by fishing gaff. Sure, there’s not much substance to this flick, but if you like classic slashers, you’ll probably get a kick out of this one. With friends or beers, it’s a fun watch.
